Attendance at 2nd Asia-Pacific Geoparks Network (APGN) Symposium at Hanoi, Vietnam, and advertisement of GEOPARKS 2012.
Mr. Shintaro Okumura, Mayor of Unzen City, Mr. Masahiro Sugimitsu, Deputy Mayor of Shimabara City and Mr. Seiichi Takada, Deputy Mayor of Minami-Shimabara City, attended the 2nd APGN Symposium in Hanoi, Vietnam, during 16-20 July 2011.
Mr. Okumura gave a welcome speech to delegates of the meeting as the host of 5th International UNESCO Conference on Geoparks (GEOPARKS 2012) which is held in Geopark Information
.
He talked "GEOPARKS 2012 will be a good opportunity for all people around the world who are promoting geopark activities to meet together and think about coexistence of human beings and nature." He requested the delegates to participate in GEOPARKS 2012.
Before his presentation, Dr. Mahito Watanabe, secretary of Japan Geopark Committee and Advisory Member of APGN, introduced briefly the significance of GEOPARKS 2012 held in Japan, expressing appreciation to geopark folks who gave sympathy for the March 11 Tsunami disaster.
During the meeting, staffs of Geopark Information
gave the publicizing campaign for GEOPARKS 2012 in the exhibition booth and lobby.
Members of the Steering Committee for Geoparks 2012 also made presentation in this symposium as follows.
