Abstract Submission

Online abstract submission begins on November 1, 2011. Abstracts must be submitted to GEOPARKS 2012 through the "Abstract Submission" area of its website http://www.geoparks2012.com/abstract/index.html, no later than January 9, 2012. All abstracts must be written in English with the format shown below. We recommend presentation as a poster, since the time window for oral sessions is limited. The core time of poster presentation runs without overlapping with oral sessions, and the space for posters is sufficient to have fruitful discussions with all delegates. Therefore, you may be asked to contribute in poster presentation by the Science Committee, even if your preference is oral presentation.
All submitted abstracts are reviewed by the Science Committee before their acceptance. Although notification of receipt of a submitted abstract will be automatically sent by e-mail, its acceptance as well as the session number and style of presentation (oral/poster) will be decided by the Science Committee. All relevant information will be sent to contributors by e-mail, while the program will be available on the website one month before the conference.

 

Oral Presentation

Except for plenary and keynote speeches, the latter being dependent on the session, each oral presentation is 15 min long, which includes 12 min for presentation and 3 min for discussion. Only a projector and personal computer (Windows / Macintosh) arranged by the organizing committee will be available in the main hall and conference rooms.
Contributors are requested to prepare their presentations in MS PowerPoint 2010 or an earlier version, and transfer it on a CD-ROM or memory stick and carry it to the conference venue. Installation of files into the main computer should be done in the preparation room on the day before the presentation.

 

Poster Presentation

All posters will be on display in the main hall of the Shimabara Fukko Arena and core time of about 60 min will be scheduled for authors' explanations in front of the posters. No oral explanations of posters will be scheduled in the conference rooms. Poster size is restricted to 90 cm wide x 180 cm high. Presenters are encouraged to prepare poster copies as handouts.

 

Abstract Format

Any contribution to symposiums (science sessions) will be completed by submission of an abstract. All abstracts must be written in accordance with the guidelines given below. Abstract submission begins on November 1, 2011 and ends on January 9, 2012.

 

Guidelines for abstract preparation

1. Title of paper: Only the first letter in each word should be capitalized.
2. Author names: FAMILY NAME (all capitalized) should be followed by first and second names, including affiliations numbers. The presenting author's name should be underlined.
3. Affiliations of authors and country.
4. E-mail of the presenting author.
5. Text: Less than 350 words. Do not include figures, equations, or images.
6. All parts should be written in 12-point Times New Roman

 

 

Travel Grants

 

Travel grant application has been closed.

Deadline of application: January 9, 2012

 

Travel Grants are available only for presenters of oral or poster sessions, who come from developing countries. The screening and selection will be done by the organizing committee. Grant amount will also be decided by the committee.

 

How to Apply

1.	Submit your presentation's abstract through the abstract submission site in our web site (http://www.geoparks2012.com/). Please don't forget to check the "Travel Grant" box.
2.	Download application form for Travel Grant below.
3.	Send full-filled Travel Grant Application Form to the GEOPARKS 2012 Organizing Committee by e-mail or fax till January 9, 2012 with the subject name of "Grant Application". Without this application form, even if you apply for travel grants at the abstract submission site, your application will not be considered.
